Catch-up with ex colleagues

Had a mini gathering of sorts with several ex colleagues on 30 Aug. All but two are no longer with $mrt. Special guest of the day was Yeo MH. Needless to say, we caught up with one another and shared a joke or two.

A takeaway from the session:

• HOW I DO NOT MISS BUS WORKSHOP AT ALL - Jon was picking up calls from my ex-boss (still current staff) See BH and shared the number of VOR buses at KRJ Depot was so high, there was insufficient parking space. The culprit? The engine of the double deck ADL buses... the first double deckers owned and operated by $mrt, the model that we 假厉害 and brought into Sg as the industry-first. At that time, noticeably playing catch-up was the lack of local presence and after-sales support. How am I not surprised that after 10+ years, the situation has not improved by much? And maintenance being maintenance, users will be looking at you to resolve the problem, this is an example of many external factors beyond my control which extremely frustrated me then. Furthermore, the nature of bus wksp is very operational-based and doesn't allow the mind to "switch off"... I am massively thankful I left before I started a family. 

Monday morning WFH

Monday morning WFH is the 2nd best thing ever, with the weekend itself the best thing. 

It's like a short extension of the weekend, allowing one to work but also rest for a couple of hours more, to crank up the engine and adjust to the work week ahead.

Trying to blow a balloon

Documenting here that Ye is such a determined character. She obviously doesn't have the lung capacity to blow up a balloon but kept going at it for at least 5 mins, huffing and puffing, red cheeks and spitting saliva and all. When's she finally done with it, she threw the wet balloon onto her sister's lap! 😯😂 This girl ah!!!

Overdose on National Day songs

Girls didn't have enough of NDP songs and created their own Busy Books NDP concert. Check out the musicians with instruments and the backdrop. 2 others perched at the top are the lights and music controllers.

I signed up for this shit

Nah, the worst is over (see post on novation). Am actually feeling gratified week by week as works progress on site. This year I begin to realise new shit and it's coming from the people, not the work.
