Sadly bade 3-8 away and officially celebrated 39 years on this planet.

I cannot bring myself to admit in a few days' time that "I am 40 this year". Unimaginable. It's an uncle's age. I am turning into one? ALREADY?!! It's a thought I decline to entertain.

I hope to be able to do this way into my sixties:

Anyway, my girls drew me beautiful cards with touching content that made me go awww. Love my girls so much.

Girls made a birthday card for nainai

In the morning before nainai's birthday lunch celebration, the girls woke up before us and hand-drew a birthday card for their grandma.

Yx designed the card and both of them filled it with their creative drawings.

This card isn't for me but I love how self-initiated it was and how innocent the family faces were drawn. 😊

My birthday card

Throwback Dec 2020: 

Received a most touching bday card from darling first-born. It was the night before my birthday but Yx had hidden this secret from me for a few days now; she couldn't hold it back any more and barged into the toilet (whilst I was having my shower) and asked, "Papa do you want to see your birthday card?"

And here it was.

Favourite activities with Papa, she said.

Thank god for giving us this charming sweetheart.

Yx answers what she wants for her birthday

Yx has always been one sensible kid who asks for simple things and one who is quite easily contented - A bus ride, a chocolate treat, a book, simple activities. She asks for only us to play toys with her and that would make her day. For her 4th bday present, she asks for only "a book".

As her 5th bday was round the corner, we asked what was her birthday request.

Yx replied, "A chocolate cake."

Silence followed. Was that all?

"Yes, there will definitely be a cake. Is there something you would like as a present?"

Yx thought hard and relented, "Ok lah, a book on space and solar system."

Such a simple and straightforward request, nothing close to extraordinary like asking for rainbows, mermaids or magic. 

So blessed we are with this cheerful, sensible kid... I'd like to believe that is because we've already been supplying her with all the love she needs. <3

Babywyx's 2nd

Cliche as it may sound - in a twinkling of an eye, babywyx is 2 years old! She's offiicially a toddler now! Not sure what the difference is between a toddler and baby, other than the former's air ticket is much more expensive...

Similar to yx's 1st bday, we had a simple, cosy celebration at my parents' place. My siblings took care of the deco which turned out to be really brilliant!

So we decided not to splurge on a $83 Barney cake; instead we got a $43 cartoon cake from Prima Deli topped with our DIY Barney cake toppers!

My wish for you, my little one Yx, is nothing but the most important things you'll need in life - good health and an abundance of happiness and wisdom. Toddlerhood will bring you (and us) more excitement, discovery and adventure! Bring it on, Terrific Twos!

'A surprise' was all I asked for, but I received many more :)

Awesome girlfriend, awesome buddies. Couldn't ask for more... no other birthdays can up this year's :)

And special credits to NZ gang for chipping in the pressie! I have never received a wrapped up bday gift this huge :D Hahaha, had fun unwrapping it corner by corner!

And to fabulous magic mom for the anticipated red eggs, year after year :)

On this special day 1215 I happened to hop on one of my buses of bus no. 1215 and cross a fine young age of 12+15 =27. Signs of an awesome year ahead :D

Our 1st cookout

We chopped, washed, peeled and boiled
Fried, sliced, simmered and broiled

Colourful capsicums and pan-fried onion
Ah careful, lessen the fire don’t let them burn

Black pepper and salt, less the basil
On hot boiled potatoes the butter glows

Non-stick Happycall we heated and tossed
Beef to perfection our fingers kept crossed

Cheers to pink Moscato our dinner ready
The sumptuous spread we beamed at gaily

Smiled she did with every bite
Sweetness of food and effort to much delight

It’s not just for your Happy Birthday
Cos I think we can do this just everyday
