11.08.21 Wyx5 being such a sweet elder sister:

So wye2 signalled that she needed the loo (which actually turned out to be false) and I placed her on the potty. Yx, who was doing her own thing at one corner, was alerted. She quickly went over with a stool and a book and began to entertain her sister, flipping through the pages. Reason she did this was because she's seen us do this to keep her sister still on the potty. So proud and pleased that yx took it upon herself to do that, to care for her sister. ♥️

Gum bump

First noticed this appearing just above Yx's tooth 2 days ago. Coincidentally that tooth is the same one she fell and hit a few years ago. The gum bump, as I learnt on Google, didn't cause pain or discomfort but I bought her to the dentist nonetheless.

Dentist said it could be bacterial infection, or because of the adult tooth that is coming out. However, if it was due to the former the bump would be redder; if it was the latter the bump would be just below the tooth. So really can't pinpoint what is was. Doc recommended to extract the tooth which was already wobbly and adult tooth was coming out anyway. But in the end we said we'll monitor the situation, and come back immediately if the bump becomes red, grows in size or causes pain.

Brave yx sat through the check unfazed. She even enjoyed the cleansing and polishing and yearned to come back again soon ...

Yx is into writing now.

She used to be very worried about getting words spelt wrongly, and after much encouragement, she dares to conjure up the words as she imagines them to be. 

We give her 5 stars for her effort and courage.

Another 5 stars for her very neat handwriting too!

Staycay at Shangri-la

Memorable moments, Yx related, from our recent staycation:

- Yx helped to pack by choosing her own clothes

- We checked in and the first thing the girls did was to jump onto the bed

- Yx slept on a single bed by herself for the first time (and through the night)

- She was so thrilled by the environment she said, "Shangri-la is great!"

- Still stoked, "I'm afraid I won't be able to sleep tonight."

- Enjoyed her first bubble bathtub experience. On the contrary, feisty Ye was so afraid of the water.

- It was 6pm and yx was still hungry after snacks and probably also tired from not taking a nap, she teared and asked us, "为什么妹妹有nan nan, 我没有？"

Loose tooth

This morning, after finishing her milk yx walked up to me and said in a serious tone, "Something's happening to my tooth."

My first thought was that I was afraid she was referring to her upper big tooth, the one she hit when she fell face first (twice in a span of 2 weeks) in 2018. Good thing it wasn't. 

Turned out that her lower tooth was loose! It was the first baby tooth that she would be dropping. So I joked that the tooth fairy is visiting soon, and yx replied bashfully, "It's not real!"

(Outing day with ah gu during Mar school holidays. Tut hair cut 🙄)

Magic Mom's sewing

After Yx's first ballet lesson, she feedback that her ballet attire was a lil loose at the shoulders. Magic mom took a look and exclaimed, "Ok I know what to do."

2 days later - 

Mom did ruching to the back seam.

A closer look:

The best thing is, the ruching can be removed when required.

If this is not magic, what is?

Sometimes I really admire my mom for being so skilled.

Yx left her books lying around

This happened a couple of weeks ago:

Yx was on the sofa watching her fav Peppa Pig on tv. She has a habit of stacking books on the sofa and wouldn't touch them until forever, explaining she's leaving them there for reading later. So it happened again this time. I sighed, sat down beside her and asked,

"Can you not put your books on the sofa?"

Distracted by the tv, of course Yx was, so there came only silence.

"How many times must I say?" I followed, in a bid to nudge her response.

Still no reply from Yx.

So this time I raised my volume abit, just to make sure she can hear me, "Can you answer me?"

Yx heard my presence this time. Okay good, I thought. She replied, "Err err.... two times."

Did u get it? Lol. I was so tickled by her answer I related what happened to wifey. Her response was, "huh why did she say that?" Lololololol.

After 30 mins of Peppa Pig every day

Yx speaks English with a British accent now. 😅

Sensible Yx

It was a Sunday PM and we turned on the TV, just for awhile to occupy the girls while we settle the chores and whatnots. 

Handing Yx a cup of water, I asked her to take a few mouthfuls. After she was done with the cup, she got off from the sofa and intended to rest the cup on the high shelf. Unintentionally, her movement caused some water to be spilt onto the floormat... Her eyes still peeled on the TV, Yx ran to take a piece of tissue and wiped up the water!

What made me feel so proud of her was that Yx did this out of her own conscience and despite being engrossed in the TV, she had the responsibility and initiative to clean up the mess! 

This girl is so easy to love.
